About the Skull and Sword artwork: The Rodriguez "Skull & Sword" deck was the first pro signature deck graphic produced by Powell-Peralta. Conceived by Ray and illustrated by V.C. Johnson with art direction from George Powell in 1979, this iconic design comes from the roots of 1980's skate culture.

Initially released in two distinct shapes; a 10" x 30" "Widetail" version and a 10" x 28.5" "Snub Nose," it came in vibrant "Brite-Lite" Dayglo colors like yellow, orange, purple, and green. Over the years, it was reissued in various colorways with the addition of the Powell-Peralta logo. In 1983, Ray's signature was replaced with the Powell-Peralta script logo. The graphic also found its way onto T-shirts and stickers.
