Steve Caballero Dragon Flight Skateboard Decks

Sean Cliver was chosen as the winner of the "Artist Wanted" contest held by Powell-Peralta in 1988, which was advertised in TWS and Thrasher magazines. His illustration style was similar to that of VCJ, which led to him landing a job in the Powell-Peralta art department in Santa Barbara. Cliver's first deck design, the Barbee Ragdoll, strayed from the traditional VCJ aesthetic. However, when tasked with updating the Caballero dragon graphic, Sean paid homage to the original design.

The graphic, later dubbed the "Ban This" Dragon, gained attention for its prominent feature in a video, particularly in a slow-motion sequence. The Cab deck, released in 1988, was brought to life by Sean Cliver's artistic touch. The deck boasted a width of 9.265 inches and a length of 32 inches, with a wheelbase of 14.75 inches. The deck featured a nose and tail both measuring 6.5 inches, with a concave K21 shape.

The deck was sold as a deck only, with griptape not included. Constructed using FLIGHT technology, the deck was made thinner, stronger, and longer-lasting, all while being manufactured in the USA. Materials used included U.S. hard rock maple, high-strength fiberglass, and AirLam fused with epoxy resin. The combination of these materials ensured a high-quality deck that met the standards of Powell-Peralta's reputation for excellence.
