O.G. Ray Rodriguez Skull & Sword Reissue Skateboard Decks

In 1979, Powell-Peralta introduced the Rodriguez "Skull & Sword" deck as the first pro signature deck graphic. This unique design was created by Ray and brought to life by V.C. Johnson, under the art direction of George Powell. Originally, the deck was available in two distinct shapes: a "Widetail" version measuring 10" x 30" and a "Snub Nose" version measuring 10" x 28.5". Both versions came in eye-catching "Brite-Lite" Dayglo colors such as yellow, orange, purple, and green.

As time went on, the deck was released in various color options, featuring the iconic Powell-Peralta logo. In 1983, Ray's signature was replaced by the Powell-Peralta script logo. The Skull & Sword graphic was not limited to just decks; it was also featured on T-shirts and stickers. The artwork, created by Vernon Courtlandt Johnson, remains a classic in skateboarding history.
